Middletown Municipal Judge Suspended, Report Says
Richard B. Thompson, a municipal court judge in nine communities, was temporarily suspended without pay, a published report says.

The municipal court judge in Middletown and eight other Monmouth County communities has been suspended from those judgeships, according to a published report.
Richard B. Thompson, was temporarily suspended without pay Friday, pending an investigation by the state’s Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct, the Asbury Park Press reported.
Thompson had been serving as a municipal court judge in Middletown, Colts Neck, Eatontown, Rumson, Oceanport, Bradley Beach, Neptune City, Tinton Falls and Union Beach, the Press said. He did not return a call from the Press seeking comment.

The newspaper reported that the county’s assignment judge ordered the temporary suspension after learning Thompson “may have violated the Code of Judicial Conduct by failing to follow the statutes, policies, and procedures for sentencing penalties and fines, in violation of Canons 1 and 2 of the Code of Judicial Conduct,’’ the Asbury Park Press reported, quoting the suspension order.
