Middletown Roads Closed; 17,000 Currently Without Power

Kings Highway is currently blocked in both directions due to fallen trees, and trees are down on Navesink River Road.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — There are currently more than 17,000 without electricity as of 1 p.m. Tuesday in Middletown, according to Mayor Tony Perry.

Pockets of Middletown often lose power, especially during high-wind storms. Trees are down all over New Jersey, including a tree that fell on a house in Neptune Twp.; see below. Nobody was injured.

In Middletown, downed trees are currently blocking Navesink River Road. Kings Highway is blocked in both directions due to fallen trees. A witness said a tornado touched down in Corbin City, just south of Ocean City, Tuesday morning, but that has not been confirmed by the National Weather Service.
