Middletown South Baseball Are State Champs; Rett Schnoor Excels
Middletown South baseball are state champs, the first time the Eagles won a state title since 1996! And Schnoor excels in track & field.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Congratulations are in order for these outstanding Middletown student athletes:
First, Middletown South boys baseball are state champs, the first time the Eagles took a state title since 1996. The team finished the season with an overall record of 22-9 and finally, beat Montclair 6-0 in the Group IV state finals to clinch the state title.
Highlight players included pitcher Ben Schild, only a sophomore, so Middletown South should have more great baseball ahead in the next few years. Also, Will Christopher went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Patrick Eagone and Evan Wood each drove in two, according to the school district.

Also, Middletown North's Rett Schnoor continued to be a state champion in track & field, as the graduating senior standout won a pair of gold medals at the NJSIAA Group III Championship Meet, finishing first in both the 100-meter dash event and the long jump.
Schnoor ran the 100-meter dash in 12.59, beating second place finisher Victoria Henry of West Windsor-Plainsboro North (12.64).

In the long jump event, Schnoor recorded a personal best mark of 18-01.50, out-leaping Raisa Thunig of Toms River East (17-10.50).
Schnoor will continue to run track & field this fall at Monmouth University.
