Monmouth Co. Man Identified As Person Hit, Killed By NJ Transit Train

He was struck at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday, and he was hit just before the north end of the Navesink River Bridge, in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ ? The person hit and killed by an NJ Transit train on New Year's Eve in Middletown has been identified as a 77-year-old Ocean Township man, said NJ Transit officials Thursday.

The man was identified as Dilip M. Shah, 77, of Ocean, said NJ Transit.

He was fatally struck by a North Jersey Coast line train while walking on the tracks.

He was struck at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday, and the collision occurred just before the north end of the Navesink River Bridge, in Middletown. The bridge's south end is in Red Bank.

The train was bound for Bay Head and had 220 customers and crew on board.
