For filming, it's going under the code name "Husker," and will film in Asbury Park, Morris County and the Meadowlands starting in November, casting agency Grant Wilfley announced here. Filming will run through January 10.

Grant Wilfley is a top Manhattan-based casting company, and they've done the casting for many recent movies filmed in New Jersey, including "Happy Gilmore 2" (currently filming throughout the state), and "Mean Girls: The Musical" and "Miranda's Victim," which filmed in Middletown, Red Bank, Woodbridge and other NJ towns in the past two years.

On Tuesday of this week, Grant Wilfley announced this public casting call for New Jersey locals to appear as extras in the movie. The movie is about The Boss' pivotal years in the early- to mid-80s as he reached worldwide fame. But it will also show his childhood days growing up in the 1950s on the Jersey Shore. They are also seeking locals to play extras in 1950s period scenes, and say that extras "Must be OK getting a 1950s period haircut."

Jeremy Allen White (?The Bear?) will play a young Springsteen. Springsteen and his manager Jon Landau will be involved in the making of the movie, according to reports.

Producers are also looking for anyone who owns a vintage car (1960s, '70s, up to '81) to appear specifically in the Asbury Park scenes, which will be shot in December.

They are paying to appear as extras in the film ($176/day), but we're sure most Springsteen fans would do it for free.

Filming location and dates:

Morris County (exact town not revealed) ? One day only, Nov. 22. Seeking children ages 3-17 years old and adults of all ages and ethnicities, for scenes set in early 1980s.

Asbury Park ? Dec. 9-13 and Dec. 16. Seeking children ages 6-12 years old and adults of all ages and ethnicities for scenes set in 1950s and early 1980s.

Bergen County (We know the location for this: It's the former Izod Center/Brendan Byrne indoor sports arena in the Meadowlands, because that's where Springsteen played his iconic "Born in the U.S.A Tour" for 10 nights in August 1984) ? Jan 9-10, 2025. Seeking people of all ages 18-30s and all ethnicities for scenes set in early 1980s.

Hair notes: Casting directors are re-create New Jersey in the early to mid-1980s, so they ask people to have the following hairstyles:

1980s scenes: Men: should have longer/shag haircuts. Long rocker style is also great. No fades, buzz cuts or super short hair for men. For women: any length is great, chin/shoulder length is ideal. Layers are great. No long extensions. Curly hair and perms are great!

These days, residents are practically tripping over the film crews making movies, TV shows and commercials in towns throughout New Jersey. Why are so many movies, TV shows and commercials being filmed in the Garden State?

It's because Gov. Phil Murphy has given HBO, Netflix and Paramount hundreds of million in tax breaks to entice them to make movies in New Jersey. Murphy says movie and TV production will bring jobs to New Jersey.

The state gave Netflix up to $200 million in tax breaks to open what will be its largest filmmaking studio in the world in Oceanport, at the former U.S. Army base Fort Monmouth.
