Nominate A Veteran For Middletown's First-Ever Veteran Of The Year
Middletown is currently seeking nominations for its first-ever Veteran of the Year award. And the Middletown Veterans' Day Parade is Nov. 6.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ ? Do you know a U.S. military veteran who lives in Middletown and you think deserves to be honored?
Middletown Twp. is currently seeking nominations for its Veteran of the Year award, the first year the Township has given such an award.
In order to qualify, the nominee:

- Must be a resident of Middletown Township
- Must have served honorably in one of the U.S. armed service branches (including the Coast Guard) either/or on active duty or in the reserve component and received an honorable discharge
All nominations must be received no later than Friday, November 11.

The award is based on documented acts of selfless service. Selfless service consists of deeds and actions on behalf of others and going the ?extra mile? beyond his or her job after their military career. Some examples:
- Regular acts of kindness and caring for others
- Hospital, home and shut-in visitations
- Volunteer chaplaincy
- Community service and projects
- Charity work
- Youth program volunteer
Also, the Middletown Veterans' Affairs Committee will host a free open house from 1-4 p.m. on Oct. 22 at VFW Post 2179 (1 Veterans Lane). Local veterans who are interested in joining a veterans' organization are invited to attend.
And finally, the 65th annual Middletown Veterans Day Parade will be held on Nov. 6 this year. The parade is sponsored by VFW Post 2179 and the Township of Middletown. The parade will assemble at 12:30 p.m. at Bayview Elementary School and step off at 1:00 PM. More info can be found HERE.
