Obituary: John C. Smith, 80, of Middletown: Born in England; British Army Veteran
John C. Smith passed away October 16. Born in England, he moved to the U.S. in 1975 and had recently moved to Middletown, two years ago.

John C. Smith, 80, of Middletown, NJ, died on October 16, 2014 at his home with his loving wife, Margaret, by his side. John was born in Bradford, England and came to the USA in 1974 settling in Elizabeth. He also lived in Roselle before moving to Middletown 2 years ago. He was a veteran of the British Army having served during the 1950’s. John worked as a Pipe Fitter/Boiler Operator for Pure Pac Pharmaceutical in Elizabeth for 27 years before his retirement in 2001. In England he worked as a bricklayer and printer.
Surviving are wife of 53 years, Margaret (nee Swaine) Smith of Middletown; son and daughter-in-law, Adrian and Patricia Smith of Atlantic Highlands; two granddaughters, Amanda Hubler, and Abigail Smith; two sisters in England, Doreen Ineson, and Shirley Banister; three brothers in England, Brian Smith, and Barrie Smith; and Ronnie Smith; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Swierc of Rochester, NY.
John was preceded in death by sister, Jean Swaine.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014, from 3 to 6 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday during the visiting hours at the funeral home.
