Obituary: Mary Vulpis, 92, of Lincroft: Seamstress Who Considered Herself to be a "Domestic Engineer"
Mary Vulpis passed away on October 17 surrounded by her loved ones. She had 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Mary Vulpis, 92, of Lincroft, NJ, died on October 17, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on May 15, 1922 to the late Domenico and Mariangela Avitto. She lived in Toms River for 12 years before moving to Lincroft 19 years ago. Mary was devoted to her family. She was the loving matriarch and cornerstone of a close family with six children, 22 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Her life revolved around her family and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. Mary was a wonderful seamstress and she loved to crochet but her greatest joy was being a “domestic engineer” as she liked to call it.
Surviving are her son, Michael (Sue) Vulpis; daughter, Joyce (Tony) DeSantis; son, Dominick (Linda Rose) Vulpis; daughter, Mariangela (Arthur) Ogonowski; daughter, Rosemarie (Charlie) Chiapperino; daughter, Elizabeth (Nicky) Rana; her 22 grandchildren, Mary, Joseph, Jeffrey, Anthony, Florence, MaryJo, Mary, Joseph, JeanMarie, Joseph, Laurie, Dominique, Gianna, John, Frank, Alicia, Jonathan, Lucille, Mary, Marguerite, Nick, and MaryJo; her 34 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Theresa.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Joseph Vulpis in 1994, and her sister, Martha.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 7-9 pm & Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 8:30 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10 am at St. Leo The Great RC Church, Newman Springs Rd., Lincroft. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
