Pedestrian Hit, Killed By NJ Transit Train In Middletown
The man was hit near the Navesink River Bridge, NJ Transit officials said.
MIDDLETOWN, NJ ? A man was hit and killed by a New Jersey Transit train Tuesday evening that was making its way to Bay Head, authorities said.
The man was hit at 5:54 p.m. on New Year's Eve by North Jersey Coast Line train 3361, an NJ Transit spokesperson said.
The train, which left Penn Station New York at 4:30 p.m. southbound for Bay Head, had 220 customers and crew on board, NJ Transit said.

The man was hit just before reaching the north end of the Navesink River Bridge, in Middletown. The bridge's south end is in Red Bank.
The man has not been identified. The incident remains under investigation, NJ Transit said.

Train service between Aberdeen/Matawan and Red Bank was halted for several hours but has since resumed and is "operating on or close to schedule," NJ Transit said.
