Police: Belford Man Used Block of Wood as Weapon, Kicked Cops
Gabriel Cerciello faces aggravated assault charges.
A Belford man struck someone in the head with a block of wood and then assaulted officers, according to Middletown police.
Gabriel Cerciello, 18, was arrested Saturday on aggravated assault and weapons possession charges. Cerciello allegedly struck an unnamed victim with the block of wood. When officers arrived at the scene, Cerciello bit and kicked Patrolman Raymond Sofield and kicked Sgt. Patricia Colangelo, according to court documents.
Cerciello also allegedly ripped the microphone off Sofield's police radio.
Cerciello was remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $45,000 bond.
