Police: Marijuana Thief Hits, Drags Man with Car

A 20-year-old from Middletown is facing aggravated assault and robbery charges after the incident.

A Middletown man is accused of stealing marijuana from another man and then dragging him several hundred feet with a car, according to court documents.

Police say Anthony Colacino, 20, agreed to purchase a bag of marijuana from the man. When the two met on Aug. 6, he allegedly stole the bag and dragged the victim several hundred feet with a car before "slamming" him into a parked car, according to court documents.

According to Detective Lt. Steve Dollinger, Colacino was arrested on Aug. 9 and charged with aggravated assault, theft, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, marijuana possession and robbery.

He was held on $440,000 bail set by Judge James McGann of the Monmouth County Superior Court.

Patrolman Adam Colfer and Detective Kevin Gardiner were the arresting officers.

According to Dollinger, the injuries were not life threatening.
