Report: Middletown Names Acting Police Chief

Deputy Police Chief R. Craig Weber was named acting police chief Monday night at a township committee meeting, the Asbury Park Press reported.

The newspaper’s report quoted Anthony Mercantante, township administrator, as saying a permanent chief may be named as early as next month.

Weber, a lifelong township resident, replaces former Chief Robert Oches, who retired Aug. 1.
