Sick Raccoon Spotted On Henry Hudson Trail, Looked 'Terrifying'

An NJ 101.5 reporter said it was during the day, and it was while he and his son were riding bikes between Highlands and Atlantic Highlands.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ ? What appeared to be a "very sick" raccoon was spotted on the Henry Hudson Trail recently.

This was reported by an NJ101.5 reporter, who did not say when he saw the raccoon, only that it was "recently." He said it was during the day and it was while he and his son were riding bikes along the Henry Hudson trail, between Highlands and Atlantic Highlands.

"We were biking west when we saw an orange cone up ahead along with a Monmouth County Park official," he wrote. "The park official told us there was a sick raccoon present in that spot, and to pass quickly but cautiously. As we passed that cone, the raccoon popped up and made itself known."

He said the raccoon looked "terrifying. Think of the serial killer doll Chucky from the movie 'Child's Play.' This animal appeared possessed."

He also said the Monmouth County SPCA had been contacted. As he and his son were leaving the Atlantic Highlands end of the trail, he saw SPCA vehicles preparing to enter the trail.
