Tree On Tracks In Middletown Suspends NJ Transit Service

Breaking: A tree is down on the train tracks in Middletown, shutting down North Jersey Coast line service from Matawan to Red Bank.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — The fall-out from last night and this morning's high winds continues: A tree is now currently down on the train tracks in Middletown, shutting down North Jersey Coast line service between Matawan and Red Bank.

North Jersey Coast Line train service is suspended in both directions between Matawan and Red Bank due to fallen tree across the tracks near Middletown, NJ Transit tweeted at about 11:45 a.m. Monday on their official Twitter feed.

Incredibly, more than 45,000 JCP&L customers are without power Monday morning due to the high winds, with 12,235 customers out in Monmouth County alone. In Middletown, 3,000 people lost power Monday; the Fairview section was hit particularly bad.
