2 Fires Broke Out In Middletown This Weekend
The announcer booth on the River Plaza Chargers football field was on fire Friday night in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — There were two fires in Middletown this weekend, the most recent being Sunday in Lincroft, which was a house fire with no injuries, and the first Friday on the athletic fields behind Shadow Lake.
Most recently, at 2:38 a.m. Sunday, a fire broke out in a private home at Radcliffe Drive in Lincroft. Lincroft and River Plaza all-volunteer fire companies were initially dispatched.
The fire started in an attached garage area that quickly spread to the second floor and attic areas. When firefighters got on the scene, they found several cars in the driveway fully engulfed in flames.

All the home's occupants had escaped. The Red Cross tweeted that they were on the scene, helping the family of three find temporary housing. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Due to the weather conditions, including humidity and the need for additional manpower, Chief Friedmann requested an additional company from Belford Engine. The home sustained damage to the garage, several rooms on the second floor and the attic area. Additionally, there was extensive smoke damage throughout the structure and multiple cars parked in the driveway were heavily damaged, as well.

More than 50 Middletown firefighters responded with no known injuries.

At 9:49 p.m. Friday, there were multiple 911 calls of a possible structure fire somewhere in the athletic fields behind the homes of Shadow Lake, in the River Plaza section of Middletown.
The River Plaza and Middletown Fire companies were initially dispatched. Middletown Police also arrived and confirmed the announcer booth on the River Plaza Chargers Football Field was fully engulfed in fire.
Under Chief John Friedmann, the fire was quickly extinguished utilizing multiple hand lines from the River Plaza engines that responded.
The cause of that fire has also not been determined.
