Weapon Found At Keyport High School Was Social Media Threat
Keyport police clarified to say no actual weapon was found at the high school; a student sent out a photo of a weapon on social media.

KEYPORT, NJ — Update: Keyport police now clarified to say no actual weapon was found on the high school campus; a student sent out a photo of a weapon on social media the night before. However, the high school was placed into lockdown Wednesday afternoon.
"Information was received that a student had sent a photo out over social media and may have had access to a weapon. The student was in attendance at Keyport High School," said Keyport police. "Keyport High School was placed in a lockdown status and the Central School was placed in shelter in place status. Keyport police took swift action and was able to immediately respond and enter the school to ensure the safety of our children and staff."
"Upon further investigation it was determined that there was no viable threat to the students or the staff. The allegation was unfounded and was not a credible threat to the safety of others. Keyport Police had immediately located the student involved."

There was not a weapon and no weapon had to be removed or recovered from the school or any other location.
It is not clear if the student is facing any disciplinary action.

A report of a weapon at Keyport High School has been received. The Keyport Police Department has been notified and all students are secure. We will notify you with details once the matter is resolved.
