7/11 Robbery Was Staged: Montville Police

Police say the clerk and the robber were working together.

MONTVILLE, NJ — A robbery at a 7/11 in Montville was staged, with both the robber and the store clerk in on the plan, Montville police said.

Both men were arrested for staging the Oct. 2 crime. Police say the clerk, Daivon Clark, 19, of East Orange, arranged the robbery in advance with Dimarco Lopez, 19, of Bloomfield.

Lopez entered the store and appeared to demand money; Clark handed it over, knowing it was his accomplice, police said. Clark waited until Lopez had a head-start until calling police.

This wasn't the first time the men had robbed a 7/11, police said. They're also accused of robbing the store on Sept. 28.

Clark was charged with conspiracy to commit theft and filing a false police report. Lopez was charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft.
