Fatal Crash: Drunk Woman's Car Struck Scooter, Killing 1 On I-80 In Montville, Police Say

​A New Jersey woman was charged with being drunk when her car struck a Suzuki scooter Friday night, killing one, police said.

A New Jersey woman was charged with being drunk when her car struck a Suzuki scooter, killing a 32-year-old man, police said.

Michelle Perez, 42, of Clifton was charged with driving while intoxicated and vehicular homicide following the Montville fatal accident, which happened Friday at 6:52 p.m. on I-80 west at mile marker 47.5, according to the State Police.

Ismail Iqbal, 32, of Somerset, the operator of a Suzuki scooter, was taken to St. Clare's Hospital in Denville where he was pronounced dead, police said. Perez was the driver of a Nissan Rogue

Perez was taken to the Morris County jail and her case is pending. State Police say they are investigating th crash.

State Police said the crash closed one lane of Route 80 west or about three hours.
