Happy Hound Owner Passes Away

Robert J. Mahoney, 63, passed away over the weekend.

POMPTON PLAINS, NJ — Robert J. Mahoney, owner of Happy Hound K9 Social Club in Pompton Plains, passed away over the weekend. He was 63.

According to an obituary shared by the Codey Mackey Funeral Home:

Born in Manhattan, NY to Thomas and Mary Mahoney, Robert lived in the Bronx before moving to Haskell in 1983.
A big animal lover, he was the owner of the Happy Hound K9 Social Club in Pompton Plains, NJ for the past 3 years. He was a proud owner of four dogs, Annie, Rascal, Sophie and Mimi. Nothing gave him more pleasure than spending time with his granddaughters and caring for animals, especially dogs.
He enjoyed a good poker game, fishing, rooting for the Buffalo Bills and the NY Yankees.

He is survived by his wife, daughter and son-in-law, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held at Codey & Mackey Funeral Home (107 Essex Avenue, Boonton) on Nov. 2 from 4-7 p.m. Services and cremation will be private.
