Meet Kickstarter Success Author in Pine Brook

Her Kickstarter children's book is called 'Buttons, Kings, and Strange Little Things.'

Kickstarter has brought to light many dreams by connecting creators and backers.

One success story is that of Tanya Gomelskaya, an artist/author, who will be in town with her new children's book, which was made possible through Kickstarter.

"I just published a children's book called "Buttons, Kings, and Strange Little Things." My book was actually funded through Kickstarter ... a few months back," said the Jersey City resident. "I hand painted 100 pages of illustrations then scanned them in and digitally enhanced them."

This Saturday at 1 p.m., she will be doing a reading and book signing in Pine Brook at the Leading Kids Academy at 328 Changebridge Rd.

Her event will be "incorporating fun art demonstrations and activities for kids to participate in," she said. "I recently began teaching art at this school, so during my reading I will also hold a small art demonstration and show the kids how I developed my characters. There will also be fun give aways such as puzzles and stickers and books available for purchase."

Her book is "a compilation of six stories all written in rhyme, about different themes such as friendship, love, and sharing. The characters are not quite identifiable as a cat or a dog, they're kind of alien-like, but they all have quirky and funny personalities and they all live in the same magical forest," said Gomelskaya.
