MONTVILLE, NJ — Montville residents will have to wait one more year to once again witness big 4th of July celebrations in town. This year's 4th of July has been canceled, the organization in charge of planning announced.

It was scheduled to be a four-day event, running between June 29 and July 2, with fireworks, live entertainment, and a carnival, among other highlights.

A few factors went into the decision. Besides struggling with date conflicts, lost revenue, and vendor availability, the rapidly changing COVID-19 restrictions have made it difficult to adequately prepare, the Montville Township 4th of July Organization said.

"We will take this opportunity to re-group and begin planning for next year’s celebration – which we expect to be better than ever," they wrote in a statement.

The organization operates only on donations and volunteers and is calling for people to help plan next year's event. Anyone interested should email Montville4thofJuly@gmail.com.
