Montville High Freshman to Perform at Boonton River Fest

Sydney Kayne, 14, started her relationship with music early in life. Having grown up listening to a variety of genres, she started playing an acoustic guitar at age six and creating her own songs at age seven.

Kayne has always been drawn to the stage and has been in several theatre productions. She currently has 10 songs copyrighted and has also performed at local venues. 

Her original passion now brings her to the River Jam musical celebration. This Montville High School freshman will perform on Sunday in Grace Lord Park and the adjoining Canal Side Park in Boonton.

"I am so thrilled to be apart of River Jam," said Kayne. "After seven years of songwriting and guitar playing, I'm really looking forward to getting my music out there."

The festival highlights local musical talent, food, crafters, entertainment and fun. The event is free and will run from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Attendees should bring lawn chairs, according to the town of Boonton.

Kayne will perform at the Gazebo at 5 p.m. in a 40-minute set that includes some new, never-before-heard songs to go with old favorites.  

“Sixteen musical acts will perform between the two venues, starting in Grace Lord Park with acoustic music for families and children, later moving into country, bluegrass and folk performances. The main stage performances will include rock, blues, gospel, and jazz performances. Attendees will also find a variety of food vendors, crafters, a beer and wine tent, and bands’ CDs and other merchandise offered by the various musical groups,” according to the town of Boonton.
