Montville Man Threatened Hotel Employee With Hammer: Police

Police said the man was angry his keycard didn't work.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A Montville man was arrested after Parsippany police say he threatened a hotel employee with a hammer after his keycard stopped working.

Ali Maqsudi, 26, from Montville, was staying at the Hilton Hotel on Sept. 10 when his keycard stopped working. Employees told police that Maqsudi became angry when the card stopped working, and left the hotel to get a hammer from his car.

He allegedly threatened the employee who issued the keycard with the hammer. The employee gave him another keycard, and he left the lobby, hotel staff told police.

Maqsudi was arrested and charged with Terroristic Threats, Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Simple Assault. He was released with an upcoming court date.
