Montville Middle Schooler Dies Suddenly, School Officials Say

School officials did not release the student's name, grade, or gender. They said the student passed away this week.

MONTVILLE, NJ — A Montville Township middle schooler died suddenly Wednesday night, Montville Superintendent René Rovtar said in a letter sent to staff and parents.

"A very sad thing has happened in our school community. Last evening, one of our Lazar Middle School students passed away suddenly," Rovetar wrote in a letter sent home Thursday morning.

The student's name, age or gender is not being released because it is not clear if the entire family has been notified.

Grief counselors are available to all staff and students on Friday.

"Death impacts each person differently. I suggest that you listen to your child. If they want to talk, listen and answer their questions as simply and honestly as you can," Rovetar said.
