LITTLE MEDICAL SCHOOL CLASSES for Ages 6 to 13—Depending on program

The Montville Recreation Department will be sponsoring LITTLE MEDICAL SCHOOL CLASSES for Ages 6 to 13—Depending on program.
Little Doctor School—Inspired Learning Today. Healthy Futures Tomorrow—Students will role-play the key responsibilities of a doctor and learn about the heart, lungs, and digestion. These future doctors will also use real medical tools such as a stethoscope, reflex hammer, and blood pressure cuff, and practice scrubbing, suturing, and tying surgical knots. Class topics include: What’s Up Doc?, All About the Heart!, All About the Lungs!, Digesting Digestion!, Is there a Surgeon in the House?, and Medical Fun and Graduation! Kit includes doctors coat, stethoscope, brain poster, modeling clay and more!
Little Veterinarian School—Every Pet Deserves A Friend—Students will role-play the key responsibilities of a veterinarian and perform a nose-to-tail exam on their newly “adopted” plush puppy. These future veterinarians will also learn how to sew stitches, remove ticks, make healthy treats, and vaccinate their dog. Class topics include: What’s in the Vet’s Office?, The ABCs of Dog Care, Laceration, Sick of Ticks!, Immunizations, and Let's Go to the Vet's Office! Kit includes plush dog, measuring tape, doctors coat, and more!

Sports Medicine School—Keep Your Favorite Player In The Game—Students will role-play the key responsibilities of a sports medicine physician, learn about Tommy John Surgery, and perform an assessment for sports injuries. These future healthcare professionals will discover what it's like to be an orthopedic surgeon by making a model of a hand, joint, and tendon. Class topics include: Move Those Muscles!, Common Sports Injuries, Just Joints, Tommy John Surgery, A Helping Hand, and Sports Medicine Graduation. Kit includes doctors coat, hand model, and mainly posters of the human body to walk them through the bones and muscles.
Little Pediatrician School—Be Your Baby’s First Doctor—Students will role-play the key responsibilities of a pediatrician and perform a head-to-toe exam on their newly "adopted" plush baby. These future pediatricians will learn about diapering, diaper rash, bottling, burping, the infant Heimlich Maneuver, childhood immunizations, and safe sleeping. Class topics include: A Baby is Born!, Care for baby!, The 3 Bs. . . Burps, Bottles, & Baths, Emergencies and Vaccinations, Preparing for a Sibling, and Graduation. Kit includes plush baby, measuring tape, milk bottle, doctors coat & more!

Teen Medical School—Thinking about a career in medicine? In our Teen Medical program, students will role-play the key responsibilities of a doctor and how to administer first aid in emergency situations. These future doctors will learn about digestion, kidneys, broken bones, hypothermia, how to use a stethoscope, snake bites, and discuss the steps to become a doctor. Kit includes doctor's coat, stethoscope, mylar blanket, and more!

Programs take place VIRTUALLY. A Google Meets class link will be sent to registrants prior to program start with specifics.
KITS will be made available to picked up at Rec Dept. PRIOR to class start.
