Montville Student Wins $5K Scholarship From 200 Club

Scholarships worth a total of $75K were awarded to 15 high school seniors in Morris County.

MONTVILLE, NJ — A student from Montville Township High School is among 15 to receive a scholarship from the 200 Club of Morris County.

Matthew R. Mauro, a senior who applied to Penn State University, University of Maryland, and Yale University, was awarded $5,000.

In total, the organization gave out $75 thousand in scholarships this year.

Since 1996, 200 Club has been awarding scholarships to family members of state police, fire, and EMS personnel. To date, it has given over $2.3 million.

“Every day, our first responders leave their homes and risk their own lives to protect our
families,” said 200 Club of Morris County president Jim Rizzo. “We believe we should stand up for their families. Our annual scholarship awards are part of the promise we make to those who care for us.”

Mauro is part of several extra-curricular activities at school, including Madison Volunteer Ambulance Corps, National Youth Leadership Training, Order of the Arrow Woapalanne Lodge #43, Scouts BSA Troop 25, and Madison Baseball, according to the organization
