Bone Marrow Donor Drive, Triathlon Signups This Week

Open Auditions: The Barn Theatre in Montville is kicking off its 86th Season by holding open auditions for an upcoming production of "Veronica's Room." Auditions are 7 p.m. Monday. All roles are available and newcomers are welcome. See more information in the announcement.

Board of Ed: The Montville Township school board meets Tuesday in the Board's Administrative Offices with a new start time for the public session: 7:30 p.m.

Outdoor Concert: Concerts in the Park 2013 opens 7 p.m. Thursday at the Montville Community Park Amphitheater with patriotic music by the Jacksonville Chapel Concert Band. A jazz quintet, a fun show about recycling and a Jimmy Buffett tribute band are among the other acts in the series lineup.

Triathlon Signups: The second annual Tri-Harder Triathlon for children ages 4 to 14 is coming to Lake Valhalla in Montville Township this month. The deadline to register is Friday. Distances and locations for the July 20 event are based on age—ranging from a 25-yard swim, half-mile bike ride, and quarter-mile run for the 4-6 age group to a 200-yard swim, 2-mile bike ride, and 1-mile run for the 12-14 age group.

Bone Marrow Match Sought: A bone marrow donor drive for Montville resident Dan Dotterweich is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Towaco Fire Department, 27 White Hall Road, Towaco. Those who sign up have their cheeks swabbed and are added to a registry of potential donors. Dotterweich, who is battling a rare form of leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant in September, hopes someone who registers will be his perfect match.
