MONTVILLE, NJ — The Passaic River has reached the flood stage in the Pine Brook section of Montville, the National Weather Service said in a statement.

The river reached flooding levels around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14. At that time, the river level was 19.3 feet, just .3 feet over the flood stage. Minor flooding is expected to continue as more rain is predicted

Officials predict that the river will rise to 19.5 feet on Wednesday morning and will then crest and begin to fall. At that level, residents should expect flooding and closures on Horseneck Road in Fiarfield.

Residents are urged to not drive through flooded areas, as water might be deeper than it looks.
