For three nights only, "Legally Blonde" the musical, at Montville HS
Singing, dancing and fun are the signature for this high energy musical comedy. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 27, 2015.
This March, the high energy Broadway musical, “Legally Blond” will snap across the stage at Montville Township High School’s (MTHS) Dr. Robert O. Stafford Auditorium. Based on the 2001 movie comedy starring Reese Witherspoon, “Legally Blond,” the musical, premiered on Broadway in 2007 with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach.
The MTHS production features more than three dozen of Montville Township’s most talented young performers. Through song, dance and a lot of fashion, these dedicated MTHS actors, dancers, and singers will tell the iconic story of Elle Woods, a seemingly shallow California girl, who successfully pursues a Harvard law degree with a little luck and a lot of help from her dog, her friends and her hair dresser.
This smart, fast-paced, musical of love and law will run for three performances only, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 5, 6 and 7 at 7:30 PM.

Produced by the MTHS Drama Club, the 2015 spring musical brings together performers from all grade levels and varied interests.
“I’m a really active theatre guy,” said senior, Chris Tsang who will play Professor Callahan, the lecherous law professor whose jealousy nearly derails Elle Woods’ chances of becoming a lawyer.

Tsang, like many of the cast, not only performs often with the MTHS Drama Club, but he also takes theatre classes and performs at performing arts schools and community theatres.
Tsang describes Callahan as “A jerk,” and notes that that can be fun. “You can do a lot with it.”
“It’s best to explore a person’s humanity,” Tsang said of his process for building a character, especially when the character is not a likable guy. “That is what acting is about, to escape yourself for a while and become someone else.”
The MTHS spring musical stars junior, Alison Regan as Elle Woods, senior, Sam Chapman as Warner Huntington III, freshman, Brooke Nagel as Paulette and dogs, Lucy and Gus, as Bruiser and Rufus. There are more than three dozen members of the cast. Favorite faculty: Mr. Len Depoe, Mrs. Heidi Kmetz, and Mrs. Jana Lenox, as well as beloved Vice Principals, Mr. Ken Nadzak and Mr. Michael Shera are also among the performers.
Freshman, Brook Nagel is very excited, and a bit surprised, to have landed the role of Paulette.
“There’s a lot of extraordinary talent,” Nagel said of her cast members.
Scott R. Baird, will direct the MTHS cast again this spring. Last year he brought Munchkinland to life for Montville. Baird will be assisted by Meagan Miller. The creative team also includes: Andy Havington (Pit Director), Karen Holezcko (Props), Susan Kenny (Costume Designer), Kristen Markowski (Vocal Director), Eileen Racioppi (art director) and Erik Sheehan (scenic designer).
“It’s a fun show,” Nagel added when asked about “Legally Blonde.” “People will really enjoy it.”
