Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains Provides Emergency & Supplemental Groceries for More Than 10,500 People in Morris County, NJ

Valley View Elementary School students, faculty and families donated 543 pounds of food to the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris Plains, New Jersey. The donation was made in time for Thanksgiving 2020. Third grade teachers Amy Falk and John Larkin delivered the non-perishable items on Friday, November 20, 2020.

The Valley View Thanksgiving Food Drive is an annual event. More than 340 students and their families, along with the school’s faculty, donated food to the drive. The 2020-2021 school year marks the 6th anniversary of the annual drive.

“We are thankful for the Valley View families and staff members who donated the overwhelming amount of food that was collected,” Falk said.

More than 10,500 people rely on the Interfaith Food Pantry in Morris County, NJ. The pantry provides emergency and supplemental groceries for those in need. This Thanksgiving the pantry is facing increased demand due to the global COVID 19 pandemic.

“We are extremely proud and impressed to say that Valley View Elementary School collected 543lbs of food,” Valley View Elementary School Principal Dr. Patricia Kennedy said. “These donations will help feed a tremendous number of families within the Morris County community.”

Valley View Elementary School is located in Montville Township, NJ, and is one of seven schools in the Montville Township Public Schools district.

“We thank those who contributed to this food drive,” Larkin said. “We are very grateful to, and very proud of, the members of our community who helped make this happen!”

According to the organization’s website, The Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry and Resource Center is: “A community of ‘neighbors helping neighbors’ committed to ending hunger and supporting self-sufficiency. Through our community partners we provide nutritious food, education and resources to inspire confidence and hope to Morris County families in need.”

The Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry has two locations in Morris County, NJ. The Valley View donations were taken to 2 Executive Drive in Morris Plains, NJ. The Morris Plains location is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for those in need of assistance. The Interfaith Food Pantry has an additional location at 190 Speedwell Avenue in Morristown, NJ. The Morristown pantry is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to Noon.
