'Be a Scout Day' at Farmers Market This Weekend
Visitors will get to learn about boy scouts and participate in scout-related activities.

The Morris Plains Farmers Market that has been going on every Saturday since June 16 has had a lot of excitement so far this summer—from to —and now, the cub and boy scouts are hosting their own special day.
The inaugural 'Be a Scout Day' will have scouts from Cub Scouts of Morris Plains Pack 233 and Boy Scout Troop 39 holding acitvities and information sessions about scouting for all visitors to enjoy from about 9 a.m. noon on Saturday at Merchants Block in Morris Plains.
"The purpose of the day is to get kids interested in scouting, and to see what they really do in boy scouting and cub scouting," Councilwoman and market manager Suzanne McCluskey said.

The cub scouts will have a Raingutter Regatta, where participants will be able to make their own boats out of recycled materials and race them down a raingutter while blowing into a straw for windpower.
These scouts will also going to be holding a raffle, and selling lemonade and popcorn as a fundraiser for their troop.

The boys scouts will have a tent hooked up at the Farmers Market, and will be doing live demonstrations of camping and outdoor techniques. These interactive activities will show what it's like to be a boy scout and how to have fun and be safe in the outdoors.
Parents will be able to sign their children up for boy scouts at the event, and will also be able to find out more information about the program. The program is open for boys entering grades one through five.
In addition to all of the cub and boy scout activities, all regular vendors will be at the market and more.
McCluskey said that the farmers markets have been very busy so far this summer, and it has been drawing several hundred people.
