Driver Hits Train Near Convent Station Sunday, Gets DWI: Police
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Morristown Medical Center.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — A driver hit an NJ Transit train while intoxicated early Sunday morning near Convent Station, police said. The woman behind the wheel sustained minor injuries and received three summonses, according to transit authorities.
The car contacted the train at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, just east of Convent Station. None of the 25 passengers or crew reported injuries. Officials took the driver — Carleigh O'Connell — to Morristown Medical Center.
O'Connell, 21, of Point Pleasant, received summonses for intoxicated driving, reckless driving and interference with transportation.

The train was heading from New York Penn Station to Dover. NJ Transit provided substitute bus service and temporarily suspended trains between Dover and Madison while removing the vehicle.
NJ Transit has reported two incidents near Convent Station in recent days. A train fatally struck Jane Siegel, of Morristown, blocks from the station on Monday morning, NJ Transit police said. Read more: Woman Killed By Train In Morris Co. ID'd As Morristown Resident
