Fatal Police-Involved Shooting Under Investigation In Morris Twp.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Attorney General’s Office is conducting an investigation of a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, according to authorities.

Police responded to Fairchild Avenue after a 911 call reported a domestic disturbance, authorities said. A male civilian sustained fatal injuries during the call, according to officials.

The investigation is being conducted by the Integrity Bureau within the Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability and no further details are being released.

In January 2019, a new law required that the Attorney General’s Office conduct investigations of a person’s death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer’s official capacity or while the decedent is in custody, authorities noted.
