Fiber Fairy's Kindness Returns In Time For Snow, Holidays

Anonymous do-gooder has begun leaving warm clothing on Morristown Green statues.

The Fiber Fairy is back, and just in time for winter weather.

The lifelong Morristown resident, who gained statewide attention in January of this year, has begun placing hats and scarves around the Morristown Green to help those who may need them to brave the harsh weather conditions.

Random Acts of Kindness, the Fiber Fairy calls it, have come just in time as the disadvantaged around Morristown brave their first storm of the season, as a nor’easter has rolled into the area.

The colorfully knitted clothing was placed on the statues of George Washington, a young Marquis de Lafayette, and Alexander Hamilton, as well as Morris Frank, founder of The Seeing Eye, and his dog, Buddy.

The items come with notes that read, “If you need this to help keep you warm as the temperatures begin to drop, then it is now yours. Life is good. Pass it on.”

The items are free to those in need and, if the Fiber Fairy continues the same routine as she did earlier this year, will appear randomly throughout the season.

“My family was always involved and helping organizations around town,” the Fiber Fairy, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Patch in January. “I have lived in Morristown my whole life and was made aware of the homeless. We pass them every day.”

The good Samaritan said she and her family will continue to leave out items as long as there is a need.

“We thought with all of the organizations and soup kitchens in town who provide they may be getting what they need from other places,” she said. “But got so excited when I drove by and saw they were gone. It shows there is still a need.”
