Fire Chief Kaar To Retire, Writes Letter To Department
The Morris Township Fire Chief is retiring, and wrote a letter to the members of the fire department.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — Morris Township Fire Department Chief Jesse T. Kaar is retiring, saying he feels it's time to move on to the next chapter in his life. He wrote a public letter to the members of the fire department, copied below:
To The Members of The Morris Township Fire Department,
I have been a member of the Morris Township Fire Department since 1987 and full time since 1999. I was promoted to Captain in 2011 and then Chief in 2016, I feel it is time for me to move on to the next chapter in my life. Therefore, I have decided to retire as of May 1st this year. I love the Morris Township Fire Department and have made many amazing friends. I will cherish all of the fun times we have had together. The fire service has changed so much since my first day in the field and I am thankful that I have had a chance to learn so much from members who served before me and continue to serve now.
I feel I owe my whole career to my father if he wasn’t a member of the department I’m not sure if being a firefighter would have been something I would have sought after on my own. Going to the station with my dad when I was a kid and hanging out at the fire station during the summers, and helping Fairchild with paper drives are not only great memories but helped to peak my interest even more. I will miss working with all the great members and I wish the Department nothing but great times in the future. Always be safe, always come home and last but not least remember the Brotherhood!
Nicole and I will still be in Morris Township and look forward to what the future will bring for us next. We look forward to seeing members at functions and around town.
Sincerely,Jesse T. KaarChief of DepartmentMorris Township Fire Department973-326-7462
