Fire Damages Laundry Room on Grannis Ave.
Morris Plains fire left no injuries on Tuesday afternoon, police said.
A fire broke out in a laundry room inside a Grannis Avenue home Tuesday afternoon and was extinguished by 2 p.m., according to the police.
The fire on 51 Grannis Ave. started in the laundry room around 1:30 p.m. and was contained to only that room, police said. No injuries were reported, police said.
Sgt. Mike Rolph, the officer on the scene, said that the fire left significant damage to that part of the one-floor ranch home, but said "it could have been a lot worse."

The fire had responders from the , Cedar Knolls RIT Team, , , and Whippany Fire Department at the scene.
Traffic was being diverted at Sun Valley Way and Grannis Avenue where part of the road was closed off by the fire.

As of 2 p.m. police said it was not immediately known what caused the fire.
