There's no need to take shelter from the heat this weekend, one of the last few the summer has to offer, so enjoy the outdoors with one, or all, of these five events across Morris County.


Jefferson, NJ: Friday, August 19, 7 PM

The Jefferson Arts Committee's Gazebo Committee is continuing their free summer concert series with the band Rave On. The group will be playing the music of Buddy Holly, including the hits, "That'll be the Day," "Peggy Sue," and "It's so Easy," and the songs of other legends this evening at the Victorian gazebo in the Municipal Complex. The show will be held at the gazebo in the Jefferson Township Municipal Complex, located at 1033 Weldon Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ.

Bloomingdale, NJ: Saturday, August 20, 10 AM

Win prizes while doing some good at the Pequannock River Cleanup Saturday morning. Organized by the Bloomingdale Environmental Commission, the event will bring together kids and adults to make the river a cleaner place for recreational activities. The organizers will provide lunch as well as supplies but make sure to where clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting wet! Participants will meet at Sloan Park on Main Street in Bloomingdale, NJ.


Morristown, NJ: Saturday, August 20, 12 PM

Bring your picnic baskets and spend a hot summer day lounging to the cool sounds of jazz and blues greats on Morristown's historic Green. The free event, in its 6th year, begins at noon with performances by the George Gee Swing Orchestra, the Bucky Pizzarelli Quartet, Louis Prima, Jr. and the Witnesses, Quinn Sullivan, and Morristown's own Robert Randolph and the Family Band. The concert will be held at the Morristown Green, on the corner of Route 124 (South Street) and Route 202 (Speedwell Avenue) in Morristown, NJ.


Morris, NJ: Saturday, August 20, 7 PM

Zootopia is making it to two events this weekend in Morris County. The Morris Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Free Family Movie Night at the Annual Family Campout in Morris. They'll also be playing Disney's Zootopia. Bring the whole family, your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to enjoy this free Big Screen outdoor movie. Arrive early for some fun and games with our summer staff at 7:00 pm, including Summit Soundz, who will take your pre-show musical requests and our pre-movie entertainer the wandering juggler. For families who want to continue the fun after the movie there will be a bonfire and treats, and the Township’s Fifth Annual Family Campout under the stars at Ginty Field (pre-registration for the campout is required).


Long Valley, NJ: Saturday, August 20, 8 PM

Long Valley will also be hosting a movie night for their community. Bring your kids and attend Long Valley's very last movie night under the stars. Watch animated zoo creatures fill up the big screen in the cool, night air. Bring your own snacks or buy from the concession stands. The event will take place at 34 E. Springtown Rd. in Long Valley, NJ.
