Former Morris County Freeholder Jack Schrier Dies
Jack Schrier was a member of the Highlands Council and helped create Morris County Sept. 11 Memorial.

Jack Schrier spent a major part of his life contributing to the political landscape of Morris County.
The Mendham Township resident died Thursday at Morristown Medical Center. His funeral arrangements are still pending and will be through Bailey Funeral Homes in Mendham.
Schrier served as a Morris County Freeholder from 1999 to 2010 and was appointed as the director during his term. He also served as a Mendham Township Committeeman.

The sitting board of freeholders released a statement late Thursday night, announcing Schrier’s passing.
“Jack Schrier served with honor as a freeholder from 1999 to 2010, always showing a passion for the needs of county residents and working tirelessly on their behalf,” the statement read. “He was a particularly strong advocate of preserving open space, farmland and historic sites in Morris County, helping to keep the county green while honoring its history and improving our quality of life. He was proud of his appointment by the Governor to the Highlands Council and served as its acting chairman.”

Schrier also played a major part in the creation and implementation of the Morris County September 11 Memorial, the statement said.
