Friends Remember Morris Plains Teen Who Died This Weekend

Greg Persaud is remembered as a great friend with a bright future.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ— Friends of Gregory C. Persaud remembered him on social media this weekend, after the Morris Plains teen died in a car accident.

Persaud, 19, was driving in Kirkwood, New York on last Friday when he struck a tree, New York State Police said in a statement.

Eyewitnesses told police that Persaud was driving at "a high rate of speed" and passed a car on the left shoulder before going off the road, according to the statement.

Persaud was declared dead at a New York hospital Saturday afternoon, police said.

Persaud was a graduate of Parsippany Hills High School, where he played on the varsity soccer team, and was studying mechanical engineering at the County College of Morris, according to an obituary. In his spare time, he volunteered at the Morristown Medical Center.
