Why are you seeking elective office?
I truly enjoy helping people. I am finishing up my first term as councilman and feel strongly that I can continue to keep our taxes low so that our seniors and young people can live in Morris Plains.
The single most pressing issue facing our community is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Keeping our residents safe and healthy. Sadly the pandemic has affected many lives and businesses. The governing body will continue to keep our residents informed on how to stay safe. I will work with my fellow council members to bring in new businesses to fill the vacant store fronts.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
Experience as a council person, volunteering in our community and years of living here. I am proud to serve as Council President and to be finishing my first term as a councilman. I have volunteered with the Morris Plains Volunteer Fire Department for 23 years, served on the MP basketball association and have coached soccer, basketball and little league. I am a 23 year resident and so grateful for the opportunity to raise my family here.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)
The current and former governing bodies are true professionals and are committed to our residents of Morris Plains. I want to thank them for their service.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform
Keeping our taxes low so our seniors and younger residents can continue to live in town is important to me. I always scrutinize our town’s monthly expenses the same way I scrutinize my personal expenses.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Having a degree in accounting made my transition to Chair of Finance seamless. My 23 years of volunteering on the Morris Plains Volunteer Fire Department has allowed me to speak to and understand many residents concerns and affectively address them.
The best advice ever shared with me was:
If you’re going to do a job - do it right
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I love living in Morris Plains and want to continue to make the town known as the “community of caring” a special place to live. I enjoy the many special events that we offer, the athletic fields are children play on and the parks our residents enjoy. I want to ensure these traditions continue and that the parks and athletic fields are kept in the best conditions possible for future generations to enjoy!
