Great Cabin Camping weather, for Scout Troop 39, Morris Plains!

A 5-mile hike ends with the troops climbing to the top of the 60-foot-tall Catfish Fire Tower, on the Kittatinny Ridge. The troops receive a warm welcome from state fire warden, Bob Wolff, who has been manning the tower and watching for fires along the Appalachian Trail for more than 30 years. Before social distancing, this is the just part of the activities accomplished on the late February scout camping trip. The mild winter weather this year was ideal, with blues skies and temperatures reaching the 50’s, compared to previous years, where temperatures dipped into single digits.

"The skills I have learned are invaluable and I will use them for the rest of my life." This is a great example of a Scout outing that promotes learning, leadership and team building. The troop members look forward to this annual outing, which took place at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, in Blairstown, NJ. This and other events throughout the year, support the mission: The Boy Scouts of America will prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law. During the school year, Troop 39 meets weekly at the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains to plan camping trips, community service events and learning required to earn rank advancements.
