Greater Morristown YMCA's Supervised Remote Learning Program
Unsure about your child's upcoming school year? The Greater Morristown YMCA is here to help!
In light of the hybrid model for in-person and remote learning set forth by the local school districts along with the daily uncertainty surrounding the upcoming school year, the Greater Morristown YMCA is pleased to offer a Supervised Remote Learning Program at our Y-Zone Youth Annex for school aged children. Located at 25 Saddle Road in Cedar Knolls, the Y-Zone is a 6,000 square facility on 3 beautiful acres, and just around the corner from the Greater Morristown YMCA.
We understand the challenges working parents are facing with balancing work and remote learning as well as the obstacles young children will encounter as they try to navigate learning from home. We are in the process of creating a dedicated classroom for Kindergarten aged children, led by a Certified Teacher, which will follow a non-virtual approach, using Kindergarten curriculum and materials*.
For children in grades 1-5, we will offer full-day and half-day options for remote learning. Children will be supervised (not taught), as they attend their individual virtual class sessions and will be provided with breaks in our gymnasium and outdoor area (weather permitting) throughout the day. This program starts on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, and follows the Morris School District Calendar. Half day or full day options are available, Monday through Friday.

HALF DAY OPTION (1PM-5PM):
Half day options are considered "After School Care" and we will provide homework support, do arts & crafts, play games, and provide a space for recreational and physical fitness activities in our spacious gym and outdoor fields (weather permitting). We will also provide an afternoon snack. Children are required to bring two face mask coverings and are encouraged to wear sneakers for recreational activity. An afternoon snack will be provided.
We will be following the CDC Guidelines for Health and Safety. Staff will be on hand to assist with your child's virtual learning but will NOT be teaching. Registration is limited.
*The State of New Jersey currently does not require children to attend Kindergarten.
