Guide Dog Falls Ill, Finds New Home for Holidays

Marek was a Seeing Eye dog for nine years before losing his own vision.

Marek spent his life helping and protecting someone else. Now it was time for him to receive the same treatment.

The nine-year-old retired Seeing Eye dog recently developed diabetes, which led to loss of his own vision due to age-related cataracts.

Because of personal circumstances, Marek’s owner was unable to keep the service dog, and was then taken in by The Seeing Eye.

The organization was able to give Marek surgery to restore his vision and stabilize his diabetes.

At that point Marek found his retirement home and joined his new family just in time for the holidays.
