It's Official: Republicans Take The Morris Plains Council Seats

After a pandemic-extended election style, the results are finally in.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — The contested race for Morris Plains Borough Council has a pair of winners as Republicans Salvatore (Sal) F. Cortese and Arthur (Art) J. Bruhn Jr. looking have taken both open seats on the dais.

According to the final tallies, certified by the Morris County Clerk the totals were:

  • Cara Parmigiani: 1,960
  • Salvatore Sal F. Cortese: 2,184
  • Arthur Art J. Bruhn Junior: 2,173

Since the change to this year's election was announced by Gov. Phil Murphy because of the coronavirus, there were been many questions about how the process worked. The primarily vote-by-mail process, in tandem with the extended deadlines to receive votes pushed the certification day to "on or about Nov. 20."
