Local Artist, Golfer, Grandmother of 12 Dies at 82

Joan Ellen Rawding knew her way around Morris County, and made a lasting impression on the area during her lifetime.

The Convent Station resident died recently at the age of 82, according to her obituary.

After graduating Irvington High School, Rawding married her husband, Frank, and the couple raised their five children in Convent Station.

Rawding was a member of Canoe Brook Country Club, Mariner Sands Country Club in Stuart, Florida, and a former member of Mendham Golf Club. The competitive golfer claims two aces to her personal accomplishments.

Rawding was a founding member of the Parents Support Group, a member of the Delbarton Mothers Guild, and a parishioner at St. Thomas More Church and Assumption Church.

She is survived by five children and 12 grandchildren.
