Memorial Day 2017 Parade In Morris Plains This Weekend

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — Morris Plains will be holding its 31st Annual Parade and Memorial Day service this Saturday, May 27.
The annual Memorial Day service will start at 9 a.m. at Robert’s Garden (corner of Glenbrook Road and Mountain Way). The traditional memorial service, conducted by members of the Morris Plains VFW Watnong Post 3401 and Denville American Legion Post 390, will be followed by comments from a special guest speaker.
The 31st Annual Memorial Day Parade will kick off near the intersection of Glenbrook Road and Mountain Way at 9:30 a.m. (You can see a full parade route and map below).

This year the Grand Marshal is long time Morris Plains resident Tina Cecala for over 30 years of coaching and inspiring hundreds of youth on the Morris Plains Marlins Summer Swim Team. Tina helped to build many champion swimmers who went on to be strong swimmers in their High School years and beyond.
The parade, the largest in Morris County, consists of over 90 units representing local and county organizations with 13 bands including the Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni, the Orange High School Marching Tornadoes Band, and new this year, the Wholly Brass Band.

A highlight of the parade will be an appearance by the Future Marines of RSS Northwest. Also, look for Teddy Graham and Friends from Mondelez. For additional information on Parade day activities, contact the Parade Chairman, Steve Welsh at 973-644- 2746.
Parade Route
The parade route travels south on Mountain Way, east on Rosedale Ave, then north along Speedwell Avenue, past the reviewing stand at the corner of Franklin Place, opposite the railroad station, and continues north up Littleton Road to Route 53 north where it ends at the VFW Watnong Post 3401.
