Multiple Gun Threats Land Morris Co. Man In Jail: Prosecutor
Authorities found the man in Morris Township and are looking into incidents in Dover and Rockaway Township, the prosecutor said.
MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Wharton man who repeatedly made threats while pointing a handgun at people was apprehended Saturday in Morris Township, according to the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. Authorities are looking into multiple incidents from the past two weeks around the county that allegedly involved Steven Retana.
Initial investigation began after a report that Retana threatened and pointed a handgun at someone May 10 in Dover, the prosecutor's office said. Authorities looked into a similar incident Friday night in Rockaway Township, according to Acting Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll.
Law enforcement found Retana at a home on Lindsley Drive in Morris Township. He had a handgun on him, the prosecutor's office said.

Retana, 21, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of terroristic threats and additional counts of certain persons not to possess a firearm. All charges stem from the May 10 and Friday incidents, authorities said.
He was taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.
