Morris Plains ACME Could Close, But So Far 'Business As Usual'

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — ACME Markets in Morris Plains could reach closing time, for good. The supermarket chain received notification that the landlord is looking to move another direction, according to an ACME spokesperson.

"But we have nothing to report at this time and will continue to operate business as usual," said company spokesperson Dana Ward.

Rumors have circulated on social media that the 329 Speedwell Ave. store may close.

The Sav-on Pharmacy within the store was recently named a COVID-19 vaccination site. Appointments can still be scheduled through Albertsons, ACME's parent company. You can also sign up for vaccine updates from ACME.

But before announcing a pharmacy closure, the company would need to give ample notice to health officials. So "if or when a closure announcement is made, we have no reason to believe that existing vaccine appointments would be impacted in any way," ACME's spokesperson said.

ACME operates 72 locations in New Jersey — more than it has in any other state. The chain also has locations in Denville, Boonton and Randolph.
