Morris Plains Residents Have a Choice For Town Council Seats

Democratic Councilwoman, Joan Goddard, is running with candidate, Nancy Verga, for two, open council seats

I am Joan Goddard, and I am thrilled to be your newest Morris Plains councilwoman. I have lived in Morris Plains for 10 years with my husband, Stephen, and our daughter who attends Borough School.

In January, the current council selected me to fill the last year of Mayor Jason Karr’s council term. The months since then have been intense and rewarding. Under the mayor’s leadership, I “hit the ground running,” working with the council, staff, and borough committees, not only to serve our residents, but also to prepare our community for the changes that we face.

It is our residents, however, who have most inspired me. Their love for our town shines through every concerned call, text, or passionate conversation. It has been my pleasure to listen and respond.

My commitment to Morris Plains started long before I became a councilwoman. I have been a member of the Education Foundation of Morris Plains, a district chair of the Morris Plains Democrats, and a volunteer with the Girl Scouts and the Morris Plains girls’ softball team. In addition, I am the founding member of the Morris Plains Parents – Free MP Site, where over 350 neighbors pay it forward within the community by donating items that they no longer want or need.

We all share a common goal: making sure that Morris Plains remains a safe and special place to live. That is the driving force underlying every decision that I make on the council.

I ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 5th to continue my service to the Community of Caring.
