Morris County National Night Out Set for Aug. 2

The Morris County Prosecutor's office will co-host this year's National Night Out festivities alongside the Morris County Park Police at Mennen Arena in Morris Township on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 5-9p.m.

Established in 1984, National Night Out was created by the National Association of Town Watch to serve as a community-building event between local communities and the members of law enforcement who serve them.

With an emphasis on a balance of recreational and informational activities, members of the county's law enforcement community will offer various educational demonstrations to educate the public on what they do and how they do it. Residents will also have the opportunity to get an up close look at emergency service vehicles and equipment, including an appearance by the Park Police's award-winning Mounted Equestrian Unit.

Free food and drink along with live entertainment, giveaways, ice-skating, and more will be available to all in attendance at the Mennen Arena event.

“The Morris County National Night Out for the past seven years has received national recognition because it offers a comprehensive array of participating agencies to educate the public on available community services,” said Park Police Chief Gabe DiPietro.

Since 2007, the National Association of Town Watch has recognized Morris County with a national award for the quality of their participation.

“The fight against crime takes a collective effort between law enforcement and the communities we serve. National Night Out is an excellent opportunity to foster this relationship” said Prosecutor Knapp.
